About EGERIA ~ How it works, at a glance

The THREE main ways to use your Egeria Home Exchange membership

a) Home Exchange: Members arrange to exchange homes at the same time.

b) Hospitality Exchange:  Members agree to host one another at different times.

c) B&B:  A member offers room and board to another members for a fee. This is different from typical home exchange in that one party is not travelling.

The 'other' option - Communicate with other members whenever you like to arrange something a bit different:

  • long-term stay
  • accommodation for a student
  • cultural exchange for young people

Where do I Start?

          1) Browse the Listings

Click Browse Listings to view member listings. Each listing will tell you where the home is and what kind of exchange the member is interested in. Additional details can be viewed by clicking on the listing. You do not have to be a member to see what is on offer, but you will need a membership to contact other members or post your own listing.

2) Become a Member

Once you have decided to join Egeria, click the Become a Member button. You will be guided through a simple registration and payment process. Be assured of the complete security of your information, which we do not share with anyone. Credit card information is processed through the Paypal platform and not stored with us.

You may sign up for a one-year or two-year membership. Either option can be extended for a free additional year if you are not able to make a match during your membership term. If you cannot use Paypal at this time or you do not have a Visa card, contact us to make alternative payment arrangements. We're here to help!

Call toll free 250 885 7990. We are in the Pacific time zone, so if you wish to speak live, call between 9 am and 10 pm Pacific, otherwise you are welcome to leave a message.

         3) Build your Profile

You have your membership. Now it's time to create your profile! The profile is what becomes your listing - what the other members will see when they search the site. Simply fill in the required fields, upload a photo and - presto! - you have your profile. You don't even have to include the dates you wish to travel; those can be added later, or you can leave it open and flexible until it's time to make plans.

          4) Check back

Check in with the site periodically to see what's new in the listings, and with your inbox to check for messages from other members. Be sure to add to your profile whenever possible and keep your information up to date. Don't forget to include pictures; they add immensely to the appeal of your listing.

You can also list up to two additional properties using your original membership. If you have a cabin, second home or vacation property - even a recreational vehicle to lend - let's hear about it!

          5) Communicate

Send a friendly message to each member whose listing interests you, using the Contact this Member button at the bottom of their listing page. Soon is better than later for sending a message - it takes time to get to know each other and make a good travel plan.
