Region Description

Edmonton is a vibrant cultural capital on the Canadian prairies, and is home to almost one million people. We are just three hours east of Jasper National Park with its abundant recreational opportunities. The city has a relaxed and ‘down-to-earth’ vibe.

Local Places to Go

Edmonton brims with cultural vitality, and hosts many great Summer festivals,  including the 2nd largest Fringe Festival in the world. Historic Old Strathcona boasts great shopping,  restaurants, and a world-class year-round farmers’ market. The city is home to the highly regarded University of Alberta and numerous Orthodox Churches.

There are also many historic and picturesque Orthodox churches in the countryside around Edmonton, including many that were consecrated by St. Tikhon in the early 20th century.

Who We Are

We’re a young family living in Edmonton, and are active members of St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church (OCA) in Edmonton.
